Primary school staff and pupils have welcomed a donation from a motorcycle club.

Representatives of Northallerton & District Motorcycle Club visited Bilsdale Midcable Chop Gate school to hand over a cheque for £200.

The club has run motorcycle trials in and around the village since 1971. Over the past 53 years it has made many donations to community projects in the area, including village halls and churches.

A spokesperson for the club said these donations help it to show members' thanks and appreciation as, without the goodwill of the community, farmers and landowners, the sport would cease to exist.

Land of teaching assistant, Janet Allison is among the many sites used, and pupils, Joe Gaskin, and Charlie Reynolds, both aged 1, have family members who competed in the past.

Headteacher, Matthew Scott, now a year into his headship at the school, said: "This donation will certainly be a massive help to our funds and will be put to good use in the future education of our pupils.”
